New Year's Eve

and on the 12th day, a parcel tied in cinnamon arrived.

Inside, a dress sewn by the tailor;

of a dress from my worn sketchbook…

To wear on New Year's Eve;

ringing in hope promised by the sweet

midnight kiss!

and on the 11th day, mason jars filled with sweet snap peas

from my summer garden, one of dragonflies aglow, and a jar

of paper hearts: some healed, others still broken, & new ones

waiting to fly out into the world...

day 9 and 10

on day 10…

a tattered book of verse to warm my belly 

and a patchwork quilt to keep cozy..

  and on the 9th day....

a string of paper lanterns to brighten winter equinox 

and a mug of hot glogg to tickle the chill.

 on day 8...

three trees to decorate

and three lollipop treats ,
one to lick, one to make magic with &
of course, one to share.

new house

and on the 7th day of Christmas….

a new house to make merry in.
